The Scientific Committee is pleased to announce that abstract submissions are now open for the 16th International Seagrass Biology Workshop (ISBW16) and the 2027 World Seagrass Conference (WSC2027), taking place in Abu Dhabi from 22-26 March 2027.

Abstracts must be submitted through the official ISBW16 submission portal. Researchers, practitioners, students, and community partners are warmly invited to contribute. To submit an abstract, users will need to create an account, complete the online submission form, and upload their abstract before the deadline.

Abstract submissions will remain open until 15 December 2026, and the Scientific Committee will provide a decision within two months of each submission.

All submissions should align with one of the five conference themes:

• Seagrass Resilience in a Changing Climate
• Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning
• Seagrass Restoration and Rehabilitation
• Human Dimensions of Seagrass Resilience
• Innovative Tools and Technologies for Resilience

Abstracts should follow the submission guidelines on the ISBW16 website. The submission form on the portal is simple to use and clearly outlines all word limits, required sections, and formatting instructions.

The Scientific Committee particularly encourages contributions that:

• Apply innovative or cross disciplinary approaches
• Integrate ecological, technological, socio economic, or policy perspectives
• Address applied challenges in seagrass conservation and management
• Highlight global, regional, or community based insights
• Explore emerging tools such as remote sensing, genomics, AI, or citizen science
